This month’s rum of the month is Pull the Pin Passionfruit and Pineapple silver rum, distilled at the Blackingstone Distillery in North Devon. Created with a special forces mindset by former Royal Engineers, Tom and Kerry, whom after a career-ending injury saw it as one chapter ending and another beginning - a new purpose, guided by passion.

What is silver rum you say? Silver rum is another description for ‘white’ or ‘light’ rum with nearly no colour and a lighter flavour profile which is less deep or rich. Such light rums form the staple base rums for many classic cocktails, such as the Mojito.
There is a misconception that all white rums are similar. But white rum is on the rise and becoming more diverse with new flavour.
The Pull the Pin range has an unmistakable bottle, with its grenade pin-like stopper – this rum is the bomb… but don’t throw the bottle!
Pull the Pin Silver rum is light and tangy with exotic fruit flavours blended to perfection. Featuring a great balance of tropical passionfruit and pineapple, sweet orange zest, brown sugar and light spice. Fun, fresh, vibrant and fruity!

Feeling inventive? Try a Pin-A-Colada, shake 50ml Pull the Pin Passionfruit and Pineapple silver rum, 100ml pineapple juice, 50ml coconut cream and a tsp of sugar. Garnish with chunks of pineapple and a pineapple leaf for extra pizzazz. Sunshine in a glass!
