The Zombie

You’d be a ghoul not to enjoy a Zombie or two on Halloween! 

The Zombie is a classic rum-based cocktail invented in 1934 by Donn Beach at his Hollywood restaurant called Don the Beachcomber. The drink was invented for a hung over customer to get him through a business meeting but it was so strong it turned him into a ‘zombie’.


The original recipe boasts a blend of three types of rum with fruit juices/syrups and citrus - fruity, tropical, vibrant yet potent. 

A traditional Zombie

30ml Overproof rum

45ml White rum

20ml Dark rum

30ml pineapple juice

20ml passionfruit syrup

20ml lime juice

10ml grapefruit juice

15ml Falernum liqueur

5ml Grenadine syrup

Hard shake with ice

Serve over ice in a Highball glass

Garnish with spiked cherries, a slice of orange and a sprig of mint

25ml of Dark rum

25ml White rum/Overproof rum

150ml Pineapple juice

50ml lime juice

Dash of Angostura bitters (optional)

Hard shake with ice

Serve over ice in a Highball glass

Garnish with spiked cherries, a slice of orange and a sprig of mint.
