A Romantic Legend of History, Saint Valentine was a Roman Priest who was sent to jail for defying the Roman Emperors’ decree that single men should not marry as they were more effective soldiers. He fell in love with the Jailer’s Daughter who visited him in Jail. St Valentine was put to death on February 14th 270 AD, but before he died he sent a letter to the lady signed “From Your Valentine” – hence the Valentine’s Card.
