A rare and meticulously aged single-cask rum from the renowned Chamarel Distillery, the Mauritius 2014 is a testament to expert craftsmanship and terroir-driven excellence. Distilled from estate-grown red and yellow sugarcane, this exceptional rum has been aged in two distinct climates—two years of tropical ageing in ex-Bourbon casks in Mauritius, followed by seven years of continental maturation in the UK in ex-English whisky casks that previously held red wine.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: A captivating blend of ripe cherries, stewed prunes, and warm vanilla, complemented by notes of hay, fragrant herbs, and a touch of spice.

Palate: Smooth and well-rounded, offering layers of caramelized red apple, blossom honey, and dried fruit, leading to a lingering finish with hints of dark chocolate.

Bottled in 2023 at cask strength (54.2% ABV), only 273 bottles of this limited-edition rum exist, making it a true collector’s piece.

Distillery: The Chamarel distillery boasts a rich history deeply rooted in Mauritius' rum-making tradition. It is one of the newest on the island: its story began in 1996 when the Couacaud family purchased the Domaine de l'Exil in Chamarel, spanning 220 hectares dedicated to sugarcane cultivation in Mauritius' fertile southwest. In 2008, the family decided to construct the distillery from scratch with a singular focus: crafting pure sugarcane juice rum exclusively sourced from their estate's plantations. Over time, the next generation of the Couacaud family has joined the team, with the two eldest brothers now actively involved in the distillery's operations.
